Présentation du congrès

The severe economic crisis inTurkey and the pandemic conditions that deepen this crisis have undeniably turned the problem of access to affordable housing, which is essentially a problem for low-income and disadvantaged groups, into a housing crisis. When viewed through the World House Price Index, it is seen that the prices of houses and rents for sale in Turkey have risen tremendously in recent years, and that housing, which is the means of meeting the basic human right to housing, has been turned into an economic investment vehicle for both the state and users. In addition, it is estimated that more than 1.8 billion people worldwide lack adequate housing, and by 2030, 40 percent of the world’s population will need adequate housing access, a prerequisite for access to employment, education, health and social services. The theme of 2021 has been determined as « Clean Environment for a Healthy World » by the International Association of Architects (UIA), which adopts the principle that all people should have adequate housing rights and that our profession has an important healing role in this regard. With this theme, UIA focuses on three key areas: « Housing, Public Spaces and Climate Change ». Based on these findings, we will organize the « Housing Congress » in memory of our dear colleague C. Sami Yilmaztürk, the current economic and political approaches that lead to the crisis for the solution of the housing problem, different housing situations, housing design and production processes, the causes of housing accessibility problems in the context of everyone’s right to housing and the functioning of the process in order to examine, analyze and carry out a joint meeting between disciplines in order to reach new solutions. we’ve arranged it. The Housing Congress, which we will organize online on 5-6 January 2022, will end with an online forum where all interested people can participate under the heading « Evaluation of housing crisis and struggle in light of housing/housing rights in Turkey and new approaches ».
